SHOULDERS OF GIANTS

Got a story that you really want to tell? Need some help with the writing? Here’s a project you could connect with and plug into the writing help that’s available.

The Mt Isa story concerns the events of 1964 and ’65 when the company that operated the mine locked out 4000 workers on the eve of Christmas over a dispute about pay increases.

The dispute lasted eight months and became a David and Goliath struggle between an overseas mining company and the community of a remote mining town in North Queensland.

We are developing this story into the structure around which a script can be written to make it film-ready. Along the way we will be pulling in all the assistance available to film writers in NQ and we will be happy to share those contacts with you to help develop your story.

Alternately, if you have friends or family who remember the big Mt Isa dispute and want to have those stories included in the script, contact us and we will follow up and collect those memories.
